Who we are
Advanced Biofabrication Technologies
Why Bio3DPrinting born?
3D bioprinting, although it is a relatively new technology, constitutes an epochal evolution for the biofabrication of functional tissues at the service of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, pharmacological and cosmetic research and the testing and production processes of drugs and cosmetic products.
We are an Italian startup established from the collaboration between SolidWorldGroup and the University of Pisa, with the mission of enabling and pushing the boundaries of 3D bioprinting technology by building the future generation of 3D bioprinting instruments.
Our leading technology is Electrospider, the first multiscale and multimaterial 3D bioprinting technology that enables the biofabrication of heterogenous and hierarchical 3D cell-laden structures mimicking native biological tissues.
The role of Electrospider
Electrospider is a biofabrication technology designed to reach the next level of 3D bioprinting. Electrospider is the first 3D bioprinting technology capable of simultaneously bioprinting multiple micro- and nano-scale biomaterials in a single prin run to physically generate native-like 3D cell constructs
Electrospider has been conceived to combine in a single 3D bioprinting platform microextrusion pneumatic, electrospinning and ink-strong technologyjet in order to overcome the limits of conventional 3D bioprinting technologies and produce 3D multi-scale and multi-material cellular constructs having the heterogeneity and complex topology of human tissues.
Relationship with UniPi
Bio3dprinting is officially a spin-off of the University of Pisa based on the development and exploitation of the results of research activities carried out within the parent institution. We believe that a partnership between research, academia and the business world, is the engine to give life to:
- Innovative ideas
- Creating jobs
- Making universities more attractive
- Increasing the competitiveness of enterprises
- Return capital to invest in the University
- Putting Electrospider on the market first in the world
